Christmas Supper (Parental) Style

There was a lot to be had for the annual Christmas meal with The Parent at the coffee shop downstairs our house this year.

Best part was that it wasn't just us both alone.

For the first time in a very long while we had extra company.

And it was something that I am very thankful for.

It took a bit of looking through the menu before we made up our minds.

At first I thought we might consider fish and chips. (We hadn't had that at this place before)

After that I thought we might share a plate of pasta. (Aglio olio sounded good)

But then we worked through our appetites and decided it good to do a half spring chicken, a cheese baked rice, a fried rice with fried fish, a plate of nuggets, as well as sides of onion rings, house salad, and potato balls.

You'd think all this would be enough for three of us, but as it turned out, we unexpectedly ended up with more.

I don't know if it were intentional or simply just an accident, but somehow- without me realizing it- we'd gotten an extra order of chicken chop too.

Let's just say it made for a very filling supper.

A very fried one too.

There was the fried fish.

There was the fried chicken.

We had the nuggets.

Then the onion rings and the potato balls.

I liked that the chicken chop was chunky and had enough sauce slathered over.

And that the fish was crispy, crunchy and overall very well fried.

The fried rice they make here isn't very oily nor is it dry so it made for a great accompaniment with the rest of the food.

We were particularly happy with the baked rice.

Soft, warm and mushy on the inside, it had a lot of sticky, gooey cheese which we decided to separate and eat it with both the white, and the fried rice.

It was a very fun meal.

We had a great time with the potato balls (they reminded me of tater tots)

We also had a great time with the onion rings and the salad.

I don't know if we'll be eating from this same stall the next year.

We might, we might not.

But in any case, this Western food stall at the coffee shop has brought me great memories this year, and this Christmas meal made for a great way to close the entire year.
