There wasn't much we could do in Bangkok today.
Perhaps it might have been that I was feeling a little pooped. Perhaps it might have been that there were things that had to be done and I had to do and somehow I suppose I did manage to do.
Our flight today was with Thai Airways- departing at 1625, and because we figured we might not be able to have dinner (besides the in-flight meal on the plane) we had a meal of chicken curry and warm crispy prata at Heavenly Wang before entering the gate.
Good decision it was- I dare say- because in between the meal and the entertainment and a short nap, the skies were a distinctive, dusky deep blue by the time we arrived at 1926 local time.
But today was a day where I was tired- mentally, physically and emotionally- so whilst I worked a call with the suitcases around me, my friend wandered around Suvarnabhumi Airport and brought me back a Coffee Club coffee.
Which, I tell you, what with all the mad rush prior to getting to the airport, yes, I seriously needed.
What's more, these days I'm someone who wishes she could get more than enough sleep, but there's life and life's calamities to go through, and so in lieu of less than enough sleep, thank God, there's caffeine and coffee.
Errand call finished, we got a Grab to Centara Grand Hotel at Central World.
No issues there were checking in at that hour, save for some deposit which the lady at the counter said we needed, but we didn't quite think we had to, but it being that hour, we did what we thought was the minimum and decided to tackle it thereafter.
I wanted to see the room.
Especially since I'd heard about this property being great for business travelers and MICE convention visitors.
First thing about the room I noticed was the presence of space.
It was surprisingly huge.
I mean, if you're familiar with how hotels are when they're near convention spaces, you'll know that they tend to be of varying size- sometimes a bit more crammed than expected- but this one wasn't.
The bed was comfortable.
There was a large television.
There was space for bedside tables.
The wardrobe area was huge.
And the black-colored circular-shaped desk doubled up as a coffee table where you could either have a spread-out meal of local favorites, of brunch plates, late-night steaks or pizza boxes, or you could work at your laptop with papers spread around.
It wasn't just the furniture that felt comfortable.
The bathroom too made me feel more at ease than I thought it would be.
For one thing I hadn't been expecting bath tubs, but there it was, large as ever, in the bathroom, with a long sink area, a separate shower and a bidet stall.
I had thought to take a shower there and then before dropping into bed, but I was in a great part of Bangkok, it wasn't that late, and after all the effort coming here, it felt a little silly going straight to bed.
So out we went, for a foot massage at this place on Petchaburi Road, which was surprisingly crowded even at that hour.
My friend had wanted a Thai massage.
I, on the other hand, was content with a foot.
So we took a treatment they call 4-in-1 that includes, besides your foot massage, a bit of massage on your head, your shoulders, your neck, back and arms as well.
It was good.
The massage removed way more fatigue than I thought it would.
And I should know, because even though it was already way past midnight when we finished, I still enough energy to walk over to Big C Supermarket for a small bout of shopping before heading back to room
