There aren't many pictures today.
It's not because I didn't do much, but somehow, for some reason- I don't really know why- Chonkycam didn't come out as much as I wish she did, so most of what I have today are of our meals.
Then again it's not really a bad thing.
Meals in Bangkok are, after all, significant and memorable, and representative of where I've been and where I've gone.
Breakfast this morning was at OPEN restaurant downstairs, where the one thing that really surprised me was the oddity of appetite.
I had very little.
It is very, very seldom, I tell you, that I look at a buffet spread and wonder what it is I can take.
Especially when there's so much to be had.
I can't remember just what all their offerings were, but I'm pretty sure there was an egg station, sausages, bacon, cooked foods, cereals, milk, toast, breads, local cuisine, and the like.
One thing, though, it's very hard for me to resist foods that I particularly like, and this morning there was a tray of stir-fried glass noodles, or tang hoon.
So I took that.
Along with two pieces of siew mai, some grilled eggplant, and two fried eggs.
Afterwards I decided that i wanted to try some of their other offerings, so to the back of the buffet counter I went- right near the lifts- and got myself a cup of yogurt with granola, a spinach pastry (because I thought it looked interesting), a waffle (it seemed crisp) and a local snack of coconut milk and glutinous rice wrapped in the shape of a narrow cone.
Up we went to the room for some work, then out we went to Moon Massage at Siam Square for a mixed massage.
What exactly a mixed massage is, I suddenly can't remember, but I think it's a 5-in-1 where you get a foot massage followed by a head, shoulder and hand massage.
Back we went after that to Ploenchit where we had lunch at my now-favorite boat noodles place- I still cannot forget the taste after all this while- and during my friend's appointment, headed to Siam Pharmacy just outside to get a bottle of RENU Contact Lens Solution before deciding my Tshirt and pants ensemble made me look like a slob and so walked back to the room for a change of pants.
With me feeling better and more confident of myself after, I met up with my friend over at Ploenchit, and back we bounced to the Siam Square area where I got a new eyeshadow from the Eve & Boy beauty and cosmetics store there.
Special mention must be made of this eyeshadow palette that comes from the NAREE brand and which I didn't know I needed until I saw it.
See, I'm the sort who likes glitter and who don't mind having a hint of glitter here and there.
But I like variety, and whilst there are eyeshadow tubs and tubes that are glamorously glittery, they're often just one color, and it's just glitter and nothing else.
This NAREE palette has glitter, shimmer, and sparkles (just in case the glitter's not enough) in three colors and at three shades each.
So good is it that now I regret not buying more.
But back then I didn't know whether I'd like it or not, so yeah, right now I still only have one.
We had dinner at KOGORO in Siam Square.
Comparable to the other place that I've since visited when in Central World, KOGORO's charm is the availability of dishes that I don't normally get to see. I mean, I'm not sure if the Central World place has breaded deep-fried salmon, but it was here on the menu, and can I just say that it was really, really good?
The batter was flaky the way it ought to be, but in and of itself had a bit of chew, whilst the salmon was soft, tender and so well-done that I didn't even taste any bit of the oil.
But the highlight had to be the rice.
If there's one thing I miss about these Japanese places that serve tonkatsu and the like, it is their rice.
Done in such a way that makes you understand what level of warmth a bowl of fluffy, perfectly-cooked rice can give you, it is the rice that sticks out strong in my mind.
I always wish I had my own bowl of rice and didn't need to share.
Dinner over, we headed over to Novotel Siam Square for a while, then walked back to Doubletree via Ploenchit Center where at the basement we went to take a look at Villa Mart and got back bottles of mineral water.
